  • Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 147:12-13, 14-15, 19-20

  • Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:16-17

  • Gospel: John 6:51-58

The Theme: Sustenance for the Journey

In alignment with our mission to Seek Peace, we reflect on the Eucharist as the ultimate source of tranquility. Just as the Israelites were sustained in the desert by manna, we are sustained in the "Forge" of our daily lives by the true Bread from Heaven. This "Radiating Truth" is that Christ does not just give us a message; He gives us Himself as food for our souls.

Connecting the Word

  • Memory and Manna (Deuteronomy & John): Moses reminds the people to "remember" how God fed them in the wilderness. In the Gospel, Jesus clarifies that while their ancestors ate manna and died, the "Living Bread" He offers brings eternal life. We are called to move from physical survival to spiritual thriving.

  • One Bread, One Body (1 Corinthians & John): St. Paul explains that by partaking in the one bread, we who are many become one body. This is the heartbeat of our Vision for Pax and Ponder: that our community is not just a collection of individuals, but a single body united by the real presence of Christ.

Pondering the Gospel

Following the example of the Blessed Mother (Luke 2:19), we ponder the mystery of how "flesh is meat indeed" and "blood is drink indeed".

  • How do I prepare my heart to receive the King of Kings in the Eucharist?

  • Do I recognize the "Radiating Truth" that Christ abides in me, and I in Him, every time I receive Communion?

Reflection Questions

  1. Seeking Peace: In the "wilderness" of my current week, am I trying to live "by bread alone"—focusing only on material needs—or am I seeking the peace that comes from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God?

  2. Building Community: St. Paul says we are "one body" because we share one bread. How can I act as a "living member" of this body this week, perhaps by offering support or nourishment to someone in my community who is spiritually hungry?
